We’ve gone above and beyond to ensure that our community experiences gameplay both familiar and new. On behalf of the rest of the team, we thank you for your patience and invite you to celebrate with us in this newfound adventure. Be sure to spread the word, as we have a ton of features and content lined up for you to make Talon the server that it was, and is today.

After all the work we put in the relaunch the past months, we can truly reiterate that Impossible is Nothing!

Now, there’s a lot to unfold here, so please read carefully. We’ll go over the following matters:

Launch Notes

About your accounts

To start off, all your Game Accounts, Characters, Items, etc. were restored. The same goes for your Master Account. The data that we restored dates back a few hours prior to the previous shut-down announcement. This means that any items you obtained, refined, broke, traded, etc, will be restored to how and where they were prior to the shut down. If you lost items obtained through recently-made donations, please read on for instructions on how to recover these.

Now, an important thing to note is that due to the usage of new forum software, your old Forum/Master Accounts have had their password reset. This means that you will have to do a Password Recovery to get access to it. Your Game Accounts however still have their old passwords.

New Master Account registration is closed at this moment. We will open these up soon!

Previously-made donations

If you are missing any items that you donated for close to the shutdown, please reach out to us through a Support Ticket to have this resolved.

Players who did a donation chargeback after we shut down will currently see their accounts restricted. As the items and/or Talon Coins on the accounts are currently illegitimate, we will have to resolve this on a case-by-case scenario. Please also reach out through a Support Ticket.

Downloads

In order to play Talon Tales, you will have to download either our Full Installer or, if you still have a previous installation, the Mini Installer. The latter one will require a few manual changes to get to work.

For starters, you can find both installers on our Downloads page. If you get the Full Installer, simply extract the .zip and run the installer. Start the game through GamePatch.exe and you’re good to go!

If you decided to get the Mini Installer, you will need to complete a few more steps. For starters, download the Mini Installer file. Extract it inside an existing installation and make sure you overwrite everything. Next, open up the file grf.list in Notepad. At the bottom, you will find an entry for data.grf. Change that into rdata.grf. Below that, add another entry (incrementing the number in the front) for sdata.grf. And that’s all there’s to it!

Events

First off, to welcome you all back we’re hosting a 12x EXP Event for 1 week!

Despite our release date not being exactly what we anticipated initially, we wouldn’t want you to not enjoy our Summer Event. On top of that, Easter will stay around for another week or so for players to enjoy and exchange any of their leftover tokens

Easter Event

The Easter Event was still in full swing during the shut down, so not having it end properly would be a bummer, especially for those people who collected a lot of tickets already. Therefore we will keep the Easter Event up for roughly another week.

Amazing Summer Race

Summer has basically ended, but we already prepared a brand new Amazing Summer Race season for you all. Therefore, we’ll be sure to let it run for at least one more month! TamTam’s Tikibar is taking a break this year, but all other events should be around. We have made various updates and improvements to the event:

• Added a new cocktail: Talonade.
• Added new region NPCs as well as new monster hunting quests, item collection quests and NPC finding quests.
• Added a mechanic where the region choice will re-roll if a certain region has been appearing a lot. This should prevent the same regions from popping up a lot of times.
• Added a new costume to the Enchantress.
• Added 2022 versions of the Summertime Boxes, based on last year’s version. New costumes and pets have been added to them as well!

Patch Notes

• No new Monthly Costume Box yet, as the May one was only released for a short time. It will stay up for the time being.
• Gunslingers now have a bike mount rather than a PecoPeco!
• Added an initial version of a bugfix that should resolve issues with setting up a vend. Please reach out to us if further or new issues show up.
• Disabled High Jump in NonTrans WoE.
• Server Time is now PST rather than UCT.
  • WoE, BG Happy Hour and GMC times have been adjusted accordingly, so they will happen at the same time as they did before.
  • Other timed events are kept as they are, so their times might be slightly off from what you are used to. Think of things like Resets, Betty, Bingo, etc.
• Lowered Equipment Swap cooldown from 10 to 5 seconds.
• Updated the @shopjump command:
  • You will now be warped to a random vendor selling the item you searched for within a 1% margin of the cheapest version of that item out there.
  • Example: you search for a Jellopy. There are four vendors, selling for respectively: 10000z, 10050z, 10100z and 10500z. You will be warped to one of the first three vendors randomly, because they are all within a 1% margin of the cheapest one.
  • Items selling under 250z are excluded from this.
  • The maximum price margin is 250,000 zeny.
  • Added a small cooldown to the command after successful use.
• Fixed many palette problems, such as missing colors, smudges on character faces and more! A big thanks for this goes out to Cydra!
• Updated ecl_fild01 map. It now has fewer models, which should ensure less client lag. Many thanks to Blackstar for going through the effort of cleaning this map up!
• We have unlocked the 3 remaining character slots on each account.
• Players can now participate in Ancient Tower up to 5 times per week. The amount of weekly rewards you can earn is still two.
• Removed Clover and Fluff from Grandma Boxter.
• Battlegrounds updates:
  • Trader Xeno now allows you to recolor several BG costumes. All you need is a BG Recolor Coupon, which sells for 500 Glory Coins (and can be traded!) as well as a costume part of the recoloring collection (currently two).
  • Added Fafnir Helm Costume, including 15 extra colors.
  • Added Helm of Dragon Costume, including 9 extra colors.
• The /ping command in-game should function properly again.
